Just when you think the environment for coal can’t get any worse, the federal agency in charge of the environment shows how it can. The coal industry has been fixated on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan — aka the “Costly Power Plan” that will reduce CO2 from existing plants and the living standards of millions of families. In the meantime, the EPA is finding another way to shut down the industry — the Clean Water Act.

EPA Rule — It’s Not Just About Coal Anymore

The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposal to establish carbon dioxide performance standards for existing power plants is a stunning attempt to remake the nation’s entire electric grid at a great cost to homes and businesses across the nation. It also threatens the reliability of our electric grid, which is already close to the edge of breaking — in large part due to earlier EPA rules that are forcing many base-load power plants to close.
