During mid-February, more than 350,000 Indian coal workers would benefit from a 25% hike in gross wages following the National Coal Wage Agreement (NCWA) signed between Coal India Ltd. and central trade unions. Sriballav Panigrahi, president, Orissa Collieries, said the NCWA, signed January 31, 2012, in New Delhi, would be implemented with retrospective effect from July 1, 2011.
