India’s Coal Ministry has directed state-owned Coal India Ltd. (CIL) to keep the output target for 2020-2021 as the government expects the fuel demand to pick up after the COVID-19 lockdown infection is lifted, according to Reuters. Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi said production and offtake targets of 710 million metric tons (mt) for FY2020-2021 remains in line with its goal to achieve 1 billion mt coal production by FY 2023-2024.
He reinforced the target for CIL while reviewing its performance on a video conference on April 22.
