John W. Eaves will retire as Arch Coal CEO on April 30, and will assume the position of executive board chair. James N. Chapman, who has served as board chair since October 2016, will transition to lead independent director. Paul A. Lang, president and COO, will succeed Eaves as CEO and is joining the board. John T. Drexler will become the COO and Matthew C. Giljum will become CFO. Drexler is currently Arch’s CFO and Giljum is currently Arch’s treasurer and vice president of finance.
