Peabody’s North Antelope Rochelle mine (NARM), located near Gillette, Wyo., is working to raise awareness about suicide prevention with a rebuilt CATD11T track dozer. The specially designed sleek and eye-catching black, purple, and blue dozer includes information about how to contact the 988 suicide lifeline and other resources. NARM employees have also had the opportunity to pay tribute to family members and friends lost to suicide by writing their names on the dozer.
“Because this is an issue that has impacted so many of our team and those across Wyoming, we felt we should do something that would increase awareness about suicide prevention. Supporting the community and our workforce is important to NARM and we are proud to do this,” Drew Kimery, general manager of NARM, said.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says Wyoming has the highest suicide rate in the nation with 31 suicides per 100,000 people. The national average is 14. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in Wyoming for ages 18-44.
