This incident has affected longwall production at the company’s Bailey and Enlow Fork mines. The continuous miner units remain fully operational. The company estimates that engineering of the affected belt system will be completed soon, and expects to resume production on or about August 12.
Last year, at about the same time (July 30, 2012), two conveyors collapsed at the Bailey prep plant. These were a different set of conveyors that delivered coal to the prep plant. The company was able to restore production by August 23, 2012.
