His previous role involved overseeing 9,500 employees and contractors, producing 35 million metric tons per year (mtpy) of thermal coal; 15 million tons of these were exported to customers across Asia and Europe. Dreyer’s roles also included operational, business and marketing capacities in Southeast Asia, South America and the U.S.
Bowie Chairman and outgoing CEO John J. Siegel was enthused. “Manie’s 21 years of experience, across aspects of global activities, will hold him in good stead as he works to expand our business and aggressively grow our Western Bit export footprint,” he said.
Bowie is one of the largest producers of Western Bituminous coal in the U.S. and is the only producer with Western U.S. export terminal capacity. Bowie forecasts sales of 17 million tons in 2014 to customers in the U.S., Mexico, Guatemala, Chile, Japan and China. Based in Louisville, Bowie has a workforce of 1,200.
