Cat spokeswoman Barbara Cox said the indefinite layoffs are expected to be effective January 19. The OEM has cited continued weak market conditions for the decision.
Cox said it will offer support services to the impacted staff.
Cat’s track-type tractors are among the mining products manufactured at the plants.
