The company said December 29 that the FCR plant in Centralia, Lewis County, was fully commissioned on schedule and has been processing regular slurry and coal since the first week of the month.
Coalview Centralia has been designed to clean and evacuate more than 18 million tons of material stored in three structures at the Centralia coal mine.
Once processing is complete, it has planned a large-scale environmental program to permit post-mining land use including upland forestry, lowland forest (wetland, riparian, fish and wildlife habitat), pastureland and industrial land.
It will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a staff of 23.
“We are pleased with the progress our team has made at Centralia,” Coalview CEO Roger Fish said. “As we continue to scale up and fine tune the plant, we expect to demonstrate the plant will meet its production estimates as forecasted.”
Last April, the company announced it had acquired a 200-ton-per-hour, all-electric coal dredge from Rohr-Idreco Dredge Systems as the primary dredging unit for the project.
The dredge came with a specially designed jet suction head to deliver material from the impoundment to the fine coal recovery system by a high-density polyethylene pipeline.
Officials said the customized system was chosen for its ability to provide the lowest unit cost.
